Bakersfield has two spiders worth taking seriously: the black widow and the brown widow, both of which are common in garages, sheds, block walls, patio furniture, and the undersides of outdoor equipment. Most other spiders here are harmless, but no one wants webs across the porch every morning.

Spider control works differently from ant control. Spiders do not groom themselves the way insects do, so barrier sprays alone are unreliable. We physically remove webs and egg sacs, treat harborage areas where widows hide, and reduce the insect population that spiders feed on.

Spider Control questions

Are brown widows dangerous?

Brown widows are venomous, though their bites are usually milder than a black widow's. They have spread rapidly across Southern California and the Central Valley and are now more common than black widows in many Bakersfield neighborhoods.

How do I tell a black widow from a brown widow?

Black widows are shiny black with a red hourglass on the underside. Brown widows are tan or brown with an orange hourglass and have distinctive spiky, sandy-colored egg sacs. Both like the same dark, undisturbed spots.

Can you get rid of spiders permanently?

Spiders will always be around outdoors. What we can do is keep them from living on your house by removing webs regularly, treating the places they hide, and controlling their food supply. Recurring service is the only reliable approach.

Will one treatment work?

A one-time treatment helps, but spiders re-establish from surrounding properties. Our bi-monthly plan includes web removal on every visit, which is what keeps the porch and eaves clear.
